Pear & Pecan Grilled Cheese

Did you know it’s National Grilled Cheese Month??

I love grilled cheese sandwiches.  My mom would always fix them for me when I was sick as a child.

Since it’s a nationally recognized month for the grilled cheese sandwich, I knew I had to make mine special.

I liked the sweet pear in contrast to the sharp cheddar.  I also liked the crunch of the pecans and the creaminess of the cream cheese!  Pretty proud of my “fancy” grilled cheese.

What’s your favorite way to make grilled cheese sandwiches??

Pear & Pecan Grilled Cheese

2 slices bread
2 slices cheese (I used one slice cheddar, one slice mozzarella)
1 tablespoon cream cheese
2 slices of a pear
1/8 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place the cheese on the bread.
Spread on the cream cheese, pear slices, and pecans. Don’t put the sandwich together.
Bake separate slices in the oven for 5-6 minutes.
Place slices together.

  1. This sounds GREAT! I've done apple grilled cheese plenty of times (try it with blue cheese!), but never pear and nut. I may have to tinker with this idea!

  2. What a wonderful idea! I'd love to try this! 🙂 Our favorite grilled cheese sandwich has meat in it. It's grilled Swiss and prosciutto with Peppadew peppers. 🙂 I really like that yours has fruit in it. Sounds so good! 🙂

  3. That sounds really good! I bet the pear is a delicious contrast to the cheese. I'm a traditional grilled cheese girl myself, but this gooey sandwich has me seriously tempted! 🙂

  4. I just wish I could find pecan nuts over here 😦 And thank you for your suggestion Katie, lemonade ice cream sounds awesome. Going to buy some lemons tomorrow!

  5. I did not celebrate the holiday and even more shameful is that I knew about it! 😦 Ahh I am in love with pecans! That sammie is amazing

  6. I am another grilled cheese lover! This variation sounds great … I will be trying it for sure. Also, thanks for stopping by our blog!
